Kirill Gerstein is a Russian-American pianist renowned for his intellectually probing interpretations and virtuosic technique. His repertoire spans a wide range, from the core classical and romantic works to 20th and 21st-century composers, often incorporating improvisation and a deep engagement with the structural underpinnings of the music. He is particularly noted for his performances of Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and challenging contemporary pieces.

The concert on December 19, 2026, will take place at the Großer Sendesaal (Great Broadcasting Hall) of Hessischer Rundfunk (Hessian Broadcasting Corporation) in Frankfurt. Opened in 1951, the hall was designed by architect Eduard Neuhaus and acoustician Lothar Kiebach. It quickly gained recognition for its exceptional acoustics, considered among the best in Europe, due to its carefully engineered reverberation characteristics.

Originally built as a radio studio and concert hall for HR’s symphony orchestra and choir, it has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed musicians and ensembles. The hall underwent extensive renovation between 2017-2019 to modernize facilities while preserving its unique acoustic properties.
