Kammerorchester Wien-Berlin, established in 1998, is a chamber orchestra known for its historically informed performance practice and stylistic flexibility. The ensemble draws musicians from leading European orchestras, focusing on interpretations rooted in research into performance traditions from the Baroque through the early Romantic periods. While capable of performing a broad repertoire, they are particularly recognized for their nuanced readings of composers like Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, often employing period instruments or historically appropriate setups.
The concert will take place at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Originally opened in 1880, the Alte Oper (Old Opera) was Frankfurt’s first opera house built as a public institution. Designed by architect Richard Lucae, it quickly became a significant cultural center during the German Empire. Heavily damaged during World War II, it lay in ruins for decades before undergoing a comprehensive reconstruction completed in 1981. Today, the Alte Oper is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and architectural beauty. It functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting opera, concerts (including orchestral performances), ballet and other events; it is not a resident opera company itself but welcomes guest productions and ensembles.
