The current building, opened in 1966, is renowned for its acoustics and modern architectural design by Hugh Maaskant. It has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists throughout its history and remains a central hub for classical music in the Netherlands. De Doelen underwent extensive renovations completed in late 2023 which modernized facilities while preserving its core acoustic qualities.
