Julian Rachlin will perform at Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria on September 17, 2026. Rachlin is a violinist and violist known for his emotionally charged performances and technical brilliance. His repertoire spans a wide range, from core classical works to lesser-known compositions, often characterized by a deeply personal interpretation and expressive phrasing. He frequently collaborates with leading orchestras and conductors internationally.
Esterházy Palace, located in Eisenstadt, Burgenland, served as the principal residence of the Esterházy family – one of the most important and wealthiest Hungarian noble families – from the 13th century until 1918. The palace complex reached its Baroque peak under Prince Nikolaus I (ruled 1763-1790), a significant patron of the arts.
Notably, Joseph Haydn served as *Kapellmeister* to the Esterházy family for nearly thirty years (1761-1790), composing many of his most celebrated works while in residence there. This long association cemented the palace’s place in musical history; it is considered one of the cradles of the string quartet and symphonic form.
