The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), under the artistic leadership of Wynton Marsalis, will perform at Indiana University Auditorium on February 24, 2027. The JLCO is dedicated to performing and preserving America’s indigenous art form – jazz. Their repertoire encompasses a wide range of styles, from early New Orleans jazz through swing, bebop, and contemporary compositions, often featuring arrangements inspired by legendary figures like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Thelonious Monk. The orchestra emphasizes both faithful recreation of historical jazz styles and innovative new works.
Indiana University Auditorium, located in Bloomington, Indiana, opened in 1941 following a design competition won by architects William B. Ittner and John M. Lyle. Constructed as a New Deal project during the Great Depression with funding from the Public Works Administration, it was intended to serve as a multi-purpose venue for university and community events. The auditorium is renowned for its acoustics and Beaux-Arts architectural style. It has hosted a diverse array of performances over its history including orchestral concerts, operas, ballet, Broadway shows, lectures and various musical ensembles.
