Orchestra Hall, located within the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit’s Cultural Center, opened in 1919 as the Paradise Theatre, a lavish movie palace. It underwent a significant renovation and reopened as Orchestra Hall in 1989, specifically designed to enhance acoustics for orchestral performances. The hall is celebrated for its elegant architecture, incorporating elements of both Baroque and Art Deco styles. It is the primary performance venue for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and hosts a variety of other musical events throughout the year. The hall's seating capacity is approximately 2,200. It has undergone further acoustic refinements since its initial reopening to optimize sound quality for both performers and audience members.
