Orchestra Hall, located in Detroit’s Midtown Cultural Center, opened in 1919 as the Detroit Theatre. Originally designed for vaudeville and motion pictures, it was renovated and became the permanent home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 1989. The hall underwent a significant restoration project completed in 2023, enhancing its acoustics and preserving its historic architectural details, including ornate plasterwork and a grand marble lobby. It is recognized for its excellent acoustics and intimate setting, seating approximately 2,200 patrons. Throughout its history, Orchestra Hall has hosted a diverse range of performances beyond orchestral concerts, including ballet, opera, and popular music acts.
