Convento do Beato is a historical building located in the Marvila district of Lisbon. Originally founded in 1646 as a convent dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament (Beato means “blessed” in Portuguese), it housed nuns of the Order of Saint Clare for centuries. The convent experienced significant damage during the 1755 Lisbon earthquake but was rebuilt. It ceased functioning as a religious institution in 1890 and subsequently served various purposes, including as a ceramics factory – Fábrica de Faiança de Benfica – renowned for its distinctive tile production until its closure in 2005.
