The Pyramid Scheme has historically been a prominent venue within Grand Rapids’ independent music scene. Opened in 2007, it quickly gained recognition for hosting a diverse range of national and regional touring acts, particularly those within the indie rock, punk, metal, and electronic genres. The venue is known for its intimate setting and relatively low stage, fostering close interaction between performers and audiences. It has served as a key stepping stone for many emerging artists. Following a temporary closure in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent structural issues discovered during renovations, the venue underwent significant repairs funded through community support and reopened in late 2023.
