hr-Bigband is a German big band radio orchestra, renowned for its diverse repertoire spanning traditional big band swing, modern jazz compositions, and collaborations across various genres including funk, pop, and classical music. Established in 1969, the ensemble has a long history of working with internationally acclaimed musicians and composers. Their performances often feature both original arrangements and interpretations of established works.

The concert will take place at the Großer Sendesaal (Large Broadcasting Hall) of Hessischer Rundfunk (Hessian Broadcasting Corporation) in Frankfurt. This hall is a significant venue for classical music and large ensemble performances within the region. Originally constructed in 1957 as part of the Nordwestfunk radio station’s headquarters – later integrated into Hessischer Rundfunk – the hall was extensively renovated and modernized between 2017-2019. The renovations focused on improving acoustics and technical capabilities while preserving the hall’s mid-century modern architectural style.

The Großer Sendesaal is known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere despite its size, making it a favoured location for recordings and broadcasts alongside live events.
