hr-Bigband, a prominent German big band radio orchestra maintained by Hessischer Rundfunk (hr – Hessian Broadcasting Corporation), will perform at Centralstation in Darmstadt on April 16, 2027. The orchestra’s repertoire spans a broad range of jazz and big band music, encompassing traditional swing, modern jazz compositions, arrangements of popular music, and collaborative projects with contemporary artists. Centralstation Darmstadt is a former railway repair hall built in 1906 during the peak of the German railway era. Originally serving as a maintenance facility for locomotives, it underwent extensive renovation in the 1980s and was subsequently repurposed as a cultural venue. The building retains much of its original industrial architecture, including high ceilings, steel supports and expansive spaces which contribute to its unique atmosphere.

Today, Centralstation hosts a variety of events including concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances and club nights. Its size allows for large-scale productions while still maintaining an intimate feel due to the historical structure's character.
