Experience Herbert Blomstedt live on June 18th
Herbert Blomstedt will conduct a concert at the Konzerthaus Vienna’s Mozart Saal on June 18, 2027. Blomstedt, a Swedish conductor of considerable longevity, is known for his clarity of texture, rhythmic precision, and deeply considered interpretations of classical and romantic repertoire. His approach often emphasizes structural integrity and a transparent sound, avoiding overly subjective or demonstrative performances. He has a particular affinity for the works of composers like Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, but maintains a broad repertoire.
The Mozart Saal within the Konzerthaus Vienna holds significant historical and acoustic importance. Opened in 1913 as the smaller hall within the larger Konzerthaus complex, it was designed by Alexander Graf. The hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics, achieved through its shoebox shape and careful material selection – specifically the use of beech wood for much of the interior construction. It has hosted performances by numerous internationally acclaimed musicians throughout its history and is considered one of Europe’s finest concert venues for chamber music and smaller orchestral ensembles. While capable of accommodating orchestral performances, its intimacy distinguishes it from larger halls. The space currently seats approximately 744 people.
