Experience Harry Christophers live on June 12th
Harry Christophers will conduct a concert at Truro Cathedral on June 12, 2026. Christophers is renowned for his interpretations of Baroque and early Classical music, particularly choral works. His conducting style emphasizes clarity of line, expressive phrasing, and historically informed performance practice, often drawing on scholarship regarding the intended performance conditions of the composers he interprets. He frequently works with period instruments and specialist ensembles to achieve this authenticity. He founded The Sixteen, a highly acclaimed vocal ensemble, in 1979 and continues to direct it alongside other projects.
Truro Cathedral, officially the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a relatively recent addition to England’s cathedral family, consecrated in 1910. Built on the site of the former parish church of St Mary, its construction began in 1880, designed by John Loughnane Pearson in a Gothic Revival style. Notably, it’s one of only three cathedrals in the United Kingdom with three spires – the central spire reaching 250 feet. The cathedral's architecture incorporates granite from local quarries and features extensive stained glass work.
