Experience Gstaad Festival Orchestra live on October 2nd
The Gstaad Festival Orchestra will perform at the Kölner Philharmonie in Cologne, Germany on October 2, 2026. The orchestra, founded in 1947 by Yehudi Menuhin, is renowned for its chamber orchestra sound and historically informed performances, often focusing on repertoire from the Baroque through early Romantic periods. While versatile, it maintains a particular strength in interpreting works requiring clarity, precision, and a nuanced approach to phrasing – qualities fostered by its long-standing tradition of working with leading soloists and conductors.
The Kölner Philharmonie, inaugurated in 1986, is a major concert hall in Cologne and home to the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln. Designed by architect Gustav Semper, it is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and modern architectural design. Replacing an earlier hall destroyed during World War II, the current Philharmonie was built on the same site and quickly became a significant cultural landmark. Its main hall accommodates approximately 1,974 audience members and is frequently host to internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists across a broad range of classical music genres. The building also houses smaller spaces for chamber music and other events.
