Fjarill, the musical project of Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist Rickard Sjöblad, will perform at Nikolaisaal in Potsdam, Germany on September 25th, 2026. Fjarill’s music is generally categorized as dark ambient, often incorporating elements of black metal and neoclassical music. Recurring themes within their discography explore nature, folklore, and melancholic atmospheres, frequently utilizing field recordings and layered instrumentation to create immersive soundscapes. The project has released several albums through labels including Cyclic Law and Nordavind Records, gaining recognition within the post-black metal and ambient communities.

Nikolaisaal is a prominent concert venue located within the historic Potsdam City Palace complex. Originally constructed in 1755 under Frederick the Great as a court theatre, it underwent significant damage during World War II. Reconstruction efforts were completed and the hall reopened in 1966 as a dedicated concert space specializing in chamber music and early music performances. It’s known for its excellent acoustics and restored Baroque architecture. The hall has since expanded its repertoire to include various genres while maintaining its focus on high-quality musical presentations.
