Fjarill, the musical project of Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist Rickard Sjöblad, will perform at the Historischer Kornspeicher in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany on November 28, 2026. Fjarill’s music is generally categorized as dark ambient, often incorporating elements of black metal and neoclassical darkwave. Recurring themes within the compositions explore nature, folklore, and melancholic atmospheres, frequently employing field recordings and layered instrumentation to create immersive soundscapes. The project has released several albums through Cyclic Law and other labels, gaining recognition within the post-industrial and experimental music scenes.

The Historischer Kornspeicher (Historical Grain Storehouse) dates back to the early 19th century, constructed between 1809-1811 under Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden. Originally serving as a central storage facility for grain supplies for the city of Freiburg, it played a crucial role in regional food security. The building’s architecture reflects classical design principles with a prominent facade along the Dreisam river. Following periods of disuse after its original purpose diminished, it underwent extensive renovation in the late 20th century.
