Filarmonica della Scala, established in 1886 as the orchestra of Italy’s renowned Teatro alla Scala in Milan, will perform at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville on January 20, 2027. The orchestra is celebrated for its interpretation of both operatic and symphonic repertoire, particularly excelling in the Italian tradition while demonstrating versatility across a broad range of composers from throughout music history. Historically focused on accompanying opera productions, it has developed into a leading concert orchestra undertaking international tours and recordings.

The Teatro de la Maestranza, inaugurated in its current form in 1991, represents a significant landmark in Seville’s cultural landscape. Its origins trace back to the 17th century with earlier iterations serving as a naval dockyard – “Maestranza” referring to the shipbuilding area. The present theatre replaced a smaller 19th-century opera house and was designed by architect Tablada. Known for its acoustics and modern facilities, it is one of Spain’s most important opera houses and concert venues, hosting both Spanish and international companies and artists. The theatre's design incorporates elements referencing its nautical past, blending historical context with contemporary architectural principles.
