Ezra Collective is a British quintet known for their dynamic blend of jazz, Afrobeat, and hip-hop influences. Formed in 2015, the group features Femi Koleoso on drums, TJ Koleoso on bass, Joe Armon-Jones on keys, James Darbyshire on guitar and Nubya Garcia on saxophone – though Garcia’s current involvement varies. Their music is characterised by energetic improvisation, complex rhythms and a strong emphasis on groove, earning them recognition within both the contemporary jazz scene and wider musical circles, including a Mercury Prize win in 2023 for their album *Where I Breathe*.

The performance is scheduled to take place at Pica (Port Melbourne Industrial Centre For The Arts), located in Port Melbourne. Pica occupies a historically significant site – the former Maritime Union of Australia headquarters. Established in the early 1990s as a multi-arts facility, Pica has become a key venue supporting independent artists across various disciplines including visual arts, theatre, dance and music. The building itself retains elements of its industrial past while functioning as a flexible performance and exhibition space. It’s known for hosting experimental and contemporary art events often showcasing emerging talent alongside established practitioners.
