Subterranean is a long-standing live music venue located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, specifically at 247 W North Avenue. Originally opened in 1978 as a punk rock club, it quickly became a central hub for the burgeoning alternative music scene in the city. Throughout the 1980s and 90s it hosted many influential bands before undergoing periods of closure and renovation. It currently operates as a multi-level venue featuring both a main stage and a smaller downstairs room known as “The Hideout,” accommodating a range of musical genres including rock, indie, hip-hop, and electronic acts.
