Evelyn Glennie, a highly acclaimed percussionist, will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on August 11, 2026. Glennie is renowned for her virtuosic and innovative approach to percussion, extending the instrument’s capabilities beyond traditional boundaries. Her performances frequently incorporate a diverse range of instruments – both conventional orchestral percussion and found objects – and explore a broad spectrum of musical genres including contemporary classical, world music, and jazz. Notably, Glennie is profoundly deaf and performs barefoot to enhance her sensitivity to vibrations.
The Royal Albert Hall opened in 1871 and was originally built as a memorial to Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. Throughout its history, the Hall has hosted a wide variety of events, from classical concerts and opera to rock and pop performances, as well as sporting events and political gatherings. It is a Grade I listed building and remains a significant cultural landmark in the United Kingdom, known for its annual Proms season with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
