Esperanza Spalding will perform at the Palau de la Música in Valencia, Spain on July 7, 2026. Spalding is a highly acclaimed American bassist, vocalist, and composer whose musical style defies easy categorization. Rooted in jazz, her work incorporates elements of neo-soul, funk, Brazilian music, and classical influences. She is known for her complex harmonic structures, virtuosic bass playing, and lyrical explorations of identity and community. Spalding has received numerous awards including a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2011 – the first jazz artist to win this award.

The Palau de la Música de Valencia is a concert hall inaugurated in 2005. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, it forms part of the City of Arts and Sciences complex. The building’s architecture is characterized by its striking geometric forms constructed primarily from concrete and steel. It comprises two main halls: Sala Principal (Main Hall), with a capacity of approximately 1,800 seats, and Sala Iturino (Iturino Hall), a smaller chamber music venue. The Palau hosts a diverse range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, and contemporary music events.
