Experience Emmanuelle Haïm live on December 18th
Emmanuelle Haïm is a French harpsichordist and conductor renowned for her historically informed performances of Baroque music. Her interpretations emphasize clarity, rhythmic vitality, and a deep understanding of 17th and 18th-century performance practices. She founded the ensemble Le Concert d'Astrée in 2003, dedicated to exploring the French Baroque repertoire, particularly the works of composers like Rameau and Charpentier. Haïm’s approach often incorporates detailed research into ornamentation, vocal styles, and instrumental techniques prevalent during the Baroque period.
The performance will take place at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Designed by architect Frank Gehry and completed in 2003, the hall is celebrated for its striking titanium exterior and exceptional acoustics. It serves as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The hall’s vineyard-style seating arrangement places the audience close to the performers, fostering a sense of intimacy despite its large capacity of approximately 2,262 seats. Its acoustics were carefully engineered by Yasuhisa Toyota to provide both clarity and warmth for a variety of musical genres, though it is particularly lauded for orchestral performances.
