Émile Parisien is a French clarinetist and composer known for his innovative approach to jazz, often blending elements of traditional jazz with contemporary classical music and electronic soundscapes. His work frequently incorporates improvisation and explores extended techniques on the clarinet, resulting in a sound that is both technically impressive and emotionally resonant. He leads several projects, including his own quartet and the ensemble United Fruit, consistently pushing boundaries within the jazz idiom.
Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains, located in Tourcoing, France, is a unique artistic creation and production facility. Founded in 1981, it functions as a postgraduate school for artists working with moving image technologies – film, video, digital arts and interactive installations. Distinctively housed within a former industrial textile factory, Le Fresnoy isn’t solely an exhibition space; it's a production centre where artists are granted residencies to develop their projects using state-of-the-art equipment. The building itself, designed by architect Denis Vallet, is recognised for its architectural significance.
