Edgar Meyer will perform at the Perelman Theater in Philadelphia on April 4, 2027. Meyer is a bassist and composer renowned for his innovative approach to acoustic music, seamlessly blending elements of bluegrass, classical, jazz, and folk traditions. He is celebrated for his virtuosity on the upright bass and his compositions often challenge genre boundaries, featuring intricate arrangements and unexpected harmonic structures. The Perelman Theater, located within the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts complex, opened in 2003. Originally known as the Philadelphia Civic Center’s Hall of Mirrors (constructed in 1931), it underwent extensive renovations as part of the Kimmel Center project. The theater is designed to provide an intimate concert experience with excellent acoustics; its seating capacity is approximately 623. It hosts a variety of performances including orchestral concerts, chamber music recitals, dance performances and theatrical productions. The space is notable for its Art Deco architectural details preserved during its refurbishment alongside modern technological upgrades to support diverse performance needs.
