Eddie Prévost will be performing at The Vortex, London on August 28th, 2026. Prévost is a British drummer and composer recognised as a central figure in the development of improvised music, particularly within the UK free improvisation scene. His work frequently involves extended techniques, polyrhythms and a focus on spontaneous interaction with fellow musicians, often eschewing pre-determined structures. He was a founding member of the influential AMM (Art Musicians’ Mutual), active from 1968 to 2004, alongside Keith Rowe and Lou Gare. Prévost’s solo performances and collaborative projects have consistently explored the boundaries of percussion and sonic texture.

The Vortex Jazz Club, located in Dalston, London, has been a significant venue for jazz and improvised music since its establishment in 1982. Originally founded by musician/activist Peter Claffey as a musician's cooperative, it provided an important platform for both established and emerging artists during a period when dedicated jazz spaces were diminishing. The venue relocated several times before settling at its current premises on Church Street in 2005.
