Donatella Montinaro will perform at the Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan on July 16, 2026. Montinaro is an Italian composer and pianist whose work frequently blends contemporary classical music with elements of minimalism and jazz improvisation. Her compositions often explore themes of memory, landscape, and the interplay between acoustic instruments and electronic soundscapes, showcasing a distinctive harmonic language and textural complexity. She has received commissions from numerous orchestras and ensembles internationally.

The Teatro Arcimboldi opened in 2002 as a privately funded opera house intended to temporarily replace Milan’s La Scala during its extensive renovation. Designed by Vittorio Gregotti, the theatre boasts excellent acoustics and a capacity of approximately 2,000 seats. While initially conceived as a temporary venue, it quickly established itself as a significant cultural institution in Milan.

Unlike the historical La Scala, Arcimboldi features a modern architectural style with a focus on functionality and accessibility. It has hosted a diverse range of performances beyond opera, including ballet, concerts, and theatrical productions. Currently, it operates independently of La Scala and continues to serve as a prominent performance space within the city’s artistic landscape.
