Django Festival Allstars presents a vibrant continuation of the “Gypsy jazz” tradition pioneered by Django Reinhardt. The ensemble performs instrumental music deeply rooted in the hot jazz of 1930s Paris, characterized by its driving rhythm, virtuosic guitar work, and improvisational spirit. Their repertoire includes original compositions alongside Reinhardt’s classics, often featuring a blend of swing, blues, and Eastern European influences. The group is comprised of leading musicians dedicated to preserving and evolving this unique musical style.
The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas, opened in September 2002. It serves as a primary venue for Broadway tours, concerts, ballet, opera and other performing arts events within the city. Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the facility boasts two principal performance spaces: the 2,650-seat Sarofim Hall and the 500-seat Hobby Center Studio Theatre. Sarofim Hall is known for its excellent acoustics and traditional proscenium arch design. The Hobby Center replaced the earlier Sam Houston Music Hall as Houston's premier large-scale performance venue and is a significant component of the city's Theater District.
