The Old Church is a performance venue located in Waterloo, London, originally consecrated in 1877 as St John’s Waterloo. It operated as a functioning church until 1982 when it was decommissioned by the Diocese of Southwark. Subsequently, it underwent a period of adaptive reuse and began functioning as an arts and performance space in the late 1990s. The building retains many of its original Victorian architectural features including stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings. It is known for its intimate atmosphere and unique acoustics which lend themselves well to a variety of musical genres, particularly those with atmospheric or acoustic qualities. The venue hosts a diverse program including music concerts, theatrical productions, and community events.
