Classical Concerts in New York

Experience David Robertson live on December 8th

David Robertson will conduct a concert at David Geffen Hall in New York City on December 8, 2026. Robertson is recognized for his interpretations of contemporary American composers alongside standard repertoire, often championing works by figures like John Adams and Steve Reich. His conducting style is frequently described as energetic and insightful, prioritizing clarity and dramatic impact. He previously served as music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra for thirteen years and held the same position with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

David Geffen Hall, located in Lincoln Center, underwent a significant renovation completed in late 2022. Originally opened in 1969 as Philharmonic Hall, it was renamed Avery Fisher Hall in 1973 following a substantial donation. In 2015, another major donation led to its current name, David Geffen Hall. The hall is the primary performance space for the New York Philharmonic and is known for its acoustics, which were substantially improved during the recent renovations designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects. The renovation focused on creating a more flexible and intimate concert experience while addressing longstanding acoustic concerns within the space. The hall seats approximately 2,400 people.
