David Bergmüller is a German composer and sound artist whose work frequently blends acoustic instruments with electronic processing and field recordings, often exploring themes of space, perception, and the interplay between natural and artificial sound environments. His compositions are characterized by a meticulous attention to timbre and texture, creating immersive and often subtly unsettling sonic landscapes. He frequently collaborates with visual artists and performers, extending his work beyond traditional concert settings.
Theater an der Wien – Hölle (Hell) is a historic venue in Vienna, Austria. Originally constructed as the “Theater in der Josefstadt” in 1904 by the architect Robert Schweiger, it quickly gained the nickname “Hölle” (Hell) due to its initially challenging acoustics and perceived remoteness from the city center. It served primarily as a venue for operetta and musical theatre for much of the 20th century.
In 2018, Theater an der Wien underwent extensive renovations transforming it into a flexible performance space dedicated to contemporary music theatre, opera, dance, and interdisciplinary projects. The redesign focused on improving acoustics while retaining the building’s unique character.
