Classical Concerts in Riddu hovedscene / Riddu Main stage

Experience Danish String Quartet live on August 16th

The Danish String Quartet will perform at the Riddu hovedscene (Riddu Main stage) within the grounds of the Oslo Opera House on August 16, 2026. The quartet is internationally renowned for interpretations characterized by technical precision, insightful phrasing, and a warm, engaging sound. Their repertoire spans from Haydn and Beethoven to contemporary composers like Thomas Adès and Per Nørgaard, but they are also known for deeply researched and compelling performances of Nordic folk music, often integrated into their classical programs.

The Oslo Opera House, completed in 2008, is a landmark building designed by Snøhetta. Its most distinctive feature is its sloping marble roof, accessible to the public, allowing visitors to walk on the building itself and enjoy views of the Oslofjord. The opera house isn’t solely dedicated to opera; it hosts a variety of performances including ballet, concerts and other cultural events. The Riddu hovedscene is an outdoor stage located within the Opera House grounds specifically utilized during the annual Riddu Riđđu festival which focuses on Indigenous cultures – particularly Sámi culture – but extends to other Indigenous peoples globally.
