Experience Cymande live on June 27th
Cymande is scheduled to perform at Sony Hall in New York City on June 27, 2026. The British musical group, active primarily in the 1970s, is known for its unique blend of jazz, funk, rock, and Caribbean influences – particularly Jamaican rhythms. Their music often features complex arrangements, layered percussion, and soulful vocals, creating a distinctive sound that defies easy categorization and has gained significant recognition within the rare groove and cult music scenes. Initially achieving success in the UK before gaining a devoted following in the United States through radio play and sampling by hip-hop artists, Cymande disbanded in 1985 but reformed in 2014 to perform again.
Sony Hall is a mid-sized concert venue located in the Times Square area of Manhattan. Originally opened as the Paramount Theatre in 1926, it was designed by Walter W. Ahlschlager and initially served as a lavish movie palace hosting vaudeville performances and film premieres. Over the decades it underwent several transformations including a period as a television studio (Studio 5A) for CBS.
