Cuarteto Quiroga is a Spanish string quartet internationally recognized for its interpretations of the classical and romantic repertoire, alongside a commitment to contemporary music. Their performances are noted for their clarity of texture, emotional depth, and technical precision, often described as possessing a distinctly Spanish sensibility rooted in a lyrical tradition. The quartet was founded in 1981 and has garnered numerous awards throughout its career, establishing itself as one of Spain’s leading chamber ensembles.
The Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, located in Santander, Spain, is a prominent cultural venue designed by architect Francisco Mangado and inaugurated in 2017. Situated on the Bay of Santander, its distinctive exterior features a large cantilevered roof intended to evoke the image of waves. The building hosts a variety of performing arts including opera, ballet, concerts and theatre.
The Palacio replaced the older Teatro Pereda as Santander’s main performance space and was conceived to enhance the city's cultural offerings and attract international artistic productions. It boasts state-of-the-art acoustics and facilities designed to accommodate diverse artistic requirements. The venue’s design also incorporates elements reflecting Cantabria’s maritime heritage.
