Cortex is scheduled to perform at The UC Theatre in Berkeley, California on September 18, 2026. Cortex creates instrumental post-rock music, often characterized by dynamic shifts between quiet, atmospheric passages and soaring, heavily distorted crescendos. Their compositions frequently incorporate elements of progressive rock and ambient music, building complex soundscapes without relying on traditional vocal structures. The project is primarily the work of American composer and multi-instrumentalist, Zachary Paul.

The UC Theatre is a historic venue originally built in 1917 as a movie palace. Located on University Avenue in Berkeley, it operated as a single-screen cinema for nearly ninety years, showcasing films until 2015. Following a significant renovation completed in 2016, the space was re-established as a live performance venue while retaining its original architectural features, including ornate plasterwork and a proscenium arch.

The theatre now hosts a diverse range of musical acts and events, accommodating approximately 1,400 attendees. It's known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere despite its size.
