Experience Corrado Rovaris live on November 19th
Corrado Rovaris’s compositions are characterized by a distinctive blend of spectralism, post-minimalism, and a deeply rooted Italian melodic sensibility. His work often explores complex timbral textures and harmonic language, frequently incorporating extended techniques for both instrumental and vocal forces. He is known for large-scale orchestral pieces, operas, and chamber music that demonstrate a meticulous attention to sonic detail and dramatic narrative.
The Theater an der Wien – Hölle (literally “Hell”) possesses a unique history within Vienna’s musical landscape. Originally built as the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden in 1901 by the architect Franz Sitte, it quickly became known for its forward-thinking and often controversial productions, earning it the nickname “Hölle” due to the critical reactions to some of its premieres – particularly Arnold Schönberg's *Erwartung* in 1924 and Alban Berg's *Wozzeck* in 1925. These works pushed boundaries of musical expression at the time.
Following extensive renovations completed in 2017, the Theater an der Wien functions as a secondary venue for the Vienna State Opera, focusing on opera, ballet, and concert performances.
