Classical Concerts in London

Experience Concerto Italiano live on December 4th

Concerto Italiano will perform at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on December 4, 2026. The ensemble, founded by Rinaldo Alessandrini in 1987, is renowned for its historically informed performance practice of 17th and 18th-century Italian music. Their repertoire focuses particularly on the rediscovery and performance of lesser-known composers alongside established figures like Vivaldi and Scarlatti, employing instruments and techniques appropriate to the period. Concerto Italiano’s interpretations are characterized by a vibrant energy, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to textual accuracy based on extensive research.

The Queen Elizabeth Hall, part of the Southbank Centre complex, opened in 1967. Designed by Hubert Bennett and Leslie Martin, it is a significant example of Brutalist architecture. The hall is primarily a venue for classical music, contemporary dance, and orchestral performances but also hosts other events. It underwent a substantial refurbishment completed in 2018 which aimed to improve acoustics and accessibility while respecting the building's original character. The hall has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed artists throughout its history and remains a prominent cultural landmark in London. Its capacity is approximately 960 seats.
