Colin Stetson will perform at the Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway on August 15, 2026. Stetson is a contemporary American saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist known for his intensely physical and often circular breathing techniques applied to saxophone performance. His music blends elements of jazz, experimental music, drone, and folk, frequently creating dense, layered soundscapes that evoke both primal and meditative qualities. He often performs solo, utilizing effects processing to create the impression of a much larger ensemble.

The Munch Museum holds the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Edvard Munch – including several versions of *The Scream* – and is dedicated to preserving and presenting his art. The current museum building, opened in October 2021 in Bjørvika, is a modern architectural landmark designed by Estudio Herreros. It represents a significant relocation from the museum’s previous locations in Tøyen and Hvitsten. The new structure aims to provide optimal conditions for preserving Munch's fragile artworks while offering expanded exhibition space and public amenities. The building’s design intentionally incorporates references to Munch’s artistic themes and emotional landscapes within its spatial arrangement and materiality.
