Chief Adjuah will perform at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on June 5, 2026. Adjuah, born Brian Seeger, is a highly regarded trumpeter and composer whose music blends elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and West African traditions – particularly those of his Ghanaian heritage. His work often incorporates complex rhythms and improvisational structures alongside socially conscious lyrical themes. He leads the group Antibalas, known for its Afrobeat sound, and also performs extensively as a solo artist and sideman.
The Blue Note Jazz Club has a significant history within the world of jazz music. Established in 1981, it quickly became a prominent venue for both established stars and emerging artists. While not the original Blue Note – which operated from 1939 to 1986 in a different location – the current club consciously evokes the spirit of its predecessor. The original Blue Note was famed for hosting legendary performers like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Thelonious Monk, and for being one of the first clubs to integrate its audience. The current location continues this tradition by presenting a diverse roster of contemporary jazz musicians alongside established names.
