The Royal Festival Hall, situated on London’s Southbank, opened in 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations. Designed by Leslie Martin and Peter Moro, it was a landmark example of post-war modernist architecture intended to be a national centre for the arts. It is the largest of the three concert and event venues within the Southbank Centre complex. Throughout its history, the hall has hosted performances by leading orchestras, soloists, and ensembles across a wide range of musical genres. Significant acoustic improvements were completed in 2007 addressing earlier criticisms regarding sound quality. The building itself is Grade I listed, recognizing its architectural and historical importance.
