Chanticleer, an ensemble renowned for its vocal performance and stylistic versatility, will perform at Chicago Symphony Center on December 8, 2026. The group is celebrated for its repertoire spanning Renaissance polyphony, jazz, spirituals, and contemporary compositions; often characterized by precise intonation, blend, and a remarkably pure vocal tone. Founded in 1978 as an a cappella ensemble emanating from the San Francisco area, Chanticleer has garnered numerous awards including Grammy Awards and is known for its innovative programming and commitment to commissioning new works.

Chicago Symphony Center itself opened in 1904 as Orchestra Hall. It serves as the primary performance venue for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and hosts a variety of other musical presentations throughout the year. The building is noted for its exceptional acoustics and ornate Beaux-Arts architecture. Originally designed by Daniel Burnham and John Root of Burnham and Root Architects, it underwent significant renovations completed in 1997 that preserved its historical character while upgrading facilities. The hall's interior features rich detailing including elaborate plasterwork and a grand staircase. It’s considered one of the most beautiful concert halls in the United States and a landmark within Chicago’s cultural landscape.
