Little Island, located in Hudson River Park at Pier 55 in Manhattan, New York City, is a public park built on a unique tulip-shaped structure comprised of concrete piles and steel supports. The project was initially conceived by Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg as a radical redesign of Pier 55 following damage from Hurricane Sandy. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, the park opened in May 2021 after significant delays and financial challenges.
