C-Level is a British jazz-funk band originally formed in the early 1980s, known for their instrumental compositions blending elements of smooth jazz, funk, and soul. Their music frequently features prominent saxophone melodies, intricate basslines, and sophisticated arrangements. The group gained recognition within the UK jazz-funk scene during the 1980s and 90s with releases on labels like Expansion Records and continued performing sporadically in subsequent years, maintaining a dedicated following.

The Fishermen’s Chapel in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, is a converted former Methodist chapel building dating back to the late 19th century. Originally serving the local fishing community – hence its name – the building underwent significant renovation in recent years to establish it as a unique live music venue. It retains many original architectural features including stained glass windows and exposed brickwork, contributing to its intimate and distinctive atmosphere. The venue hosts a diverse range of musical acts, focusing on genres that complement its acoustic properties and character; jazz, blues and acoustic performances are common. It is known for its relatively small capacity creating an up-close experience for attendees.
