Experience BYU Philharmonic Orchestra live on October 2nd

The Brigham Young University (BYU) Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform at Opernhaus Dortmund on October 2, 2026. The BYU Philharmonic is recognized for its performances of standard orchestral repertoire, encompassing works from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st-century periods. The ensemble frequently undertakes large-scale symphonic works and concerti, showcasing both established composers and contemporary voices. It is comprised of student musicians selected through audition and operates within the School of Music at BYU.

Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1964 and serves as the primary venue for opera and ballet performances in the city. Designed by architect Paul Baumgarten, it is noted for its modernist architectural style and relatively compact size – seating approximately 776 patrons. The building underwent extensive renovation between 2007 and 2010 to address technical issues and modernize facilities while preserving its original character. Throughout its history, Opernhaus Dortmund has hosted numerous internationally renowned singers, conductors, and orchestras. It’s considered a significant cultural institution within the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, contributing to Dortmund’s reputation as a center for performing arts.
