Wilton’s Music Hall is a Grade II* listed building in East London, recognised as the oldest grand music hall in the world. Originally built as a public hall in 1858 by John Wilton, it quickly transitioned into a popular entertainment venue hosting variety performances – including early music hall acts, opera, and even boxing matches – throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Following a period of decline and near-demolition in the mid-20th century, it was saved by a dedicated restoration project led by Sally Angel. Today, Wilton's continues to operate as a performance space, maintaining much of its original Victorian architecture and unique atmosphere.
