Experience Boston Symphony Orchestra live on January 7th
The Boston Symphony Orchestra will perform at Symphony Hall in Boston, Massachusetts on January 7, 2027. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is internationally renowned for its distinctive sound, often characterized by rich string tone and a powerful brass section. Founded in 1881, the orchestra has a long tradition of championing both established repertoire and contemporary works, and has commissioned numerous pieces from leading composers. Throughout its history, the BSO has been associated with conductors such as Arthur Fiedler, Serge Koussevitzky, and Leonard Bernstein.
Symphony Hall itself opened in 1888 and is considered one of the most acoustically perfect concert venues in the world. Designed by William Flagg, its acoustics were largely accidental, resulting from specific dimensions and materials used during construction – notably the lack of parallel surfaces. The hall’s interior features a gilded and ornate aesthetic typical of the late 19th century. It is the home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra, hosting over 250 performances annually. The hall remains largely unchanged since its original construction, preserving its exceptional acoustic properties which have been praised by musicians and acousticians for over a century.
