Experience Boston Symphony Orchestra live on March 13th
The Boston Symphony Orchestra will perform at Barbican Hall in London on March 13, 2027. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is renowned for its rich sound and commitment to both traditional repertoire and contemporary works. Historically, the orchestra has been associated with a distinctly American sound – characterized by a robust string section and a clarity of phrasing – though under various musical directors it has embraced diverse interpretations. It maintains a strong recording history and is considered one of the world’s leading orchestras.
Barbican Hall, the performance venue, is located within the Barbican Estate, a Grade II listed complex opened in 1982. The hall itself is celebrated for its acoustics, specifically designed to accommodate orchestral performances. It's known for a relatively ‘dry’ acoustic—meaning less reverberation compared to some other concert halls—allowing for detailed instrumental clarity. The Barbican Centre as a whole represents an example of Brutalist architecture and functions as a multi-arts venue hosting music, theatre, film and visual arts events. It was built on a bomb-damaged site from World War II and forms part of the City of London’s cultural landscape.
