Boris is a Japanese experimental rock band formed in 1992 in Tokyo. Their music defies easy categorization, evolving significantly over their career but generally encompassing elements of drone, doom metal, shoegaze, and noise rock. Early work was heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and The Melvins, progressing to explore ambient soundscapes and extended instrumental passages. Recent albums demonstrate a continued willingness to experiment with diverse sonic textures and structures.
Vagonu Hall in Riga, Latvia, is a concert venue located within the historic Riga Railway Factory complex. Originally constructed in the early 20th century as part of the factory’s infrastructure, the space has been repurposed as a cultural center since the 1990s. It's known for its industrial aesthetic – retaining many original architectural features like exposed brick and metalwork – creating a unique atmosphere for performances. The hall frequently hosts alternative and independent music acts, alongside other cultural events like exhibitions and workshops. It’s considered an important venue within Riga’s underground music scene due to its capacity for intimate shows and support of non-mainstream artists. The hall typically accommodates around 300-400 attendees.
