The Ideal Theater & Bar is a historic venue located in Cedar Rapids’ NewBo district. Originally constructed in 1928 as a Vaudeville and movie house, it operated under various names including The Lyric and The Roosevelt. Following periods of disuse and decline, the building underwent significant restoration beginning in 2017. It reopened as The Ideal in 2018, functioning as both a live music venue and a bar. The space retains much of its original architectural detail while offering modern amenities. It currently hosts a diverse range of performances including concerts, comedy shows, and theatrical productions, with a focus on supporting regional artists alongside nationally touring acts.
