Country Concerts in Durham

Experience Black Country live on October 5th

Black Country, New Road, a British post-punk band formed in Cambridge in 2018, will be performing at Cat’s Cradle in Durham, North Carolina on October 5, 2026. The group is known for its dynamic and experimental sound, initially characterized by lengthy, complex compositions blending elements of post-punk, jazz, klezmer, and spoken word. Their music often features shifting time signatures, unconventional instrumentation – including saxophone and violin – and intensely emotional vocals. Following the departure of vocalist Isaac Wood in early 2022, the band has continued to evolve, maintaining a focus on intricate arrangements but with a somewhat altered vocal dynamic led by guitarist Isaac Evans.

Cat’s Cradle has been a significant venue in the Durham music scene since its founding in 1974. Originally located on West Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill before relocating to Carrboro in 1989 and finally Durham in 2018, it has hosted a diverse range of nationally and internationally recognized artists across genres like indie rock, alternative country, and experimental music. The venue is known for its intimate setting and strong support of emerging artists alongside established acts.
