Jerry Douglas will perform at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, North Carolina on November 5, 2026. Douglas is widely recognized as a leading resonator guitar player, often associated with progressive bluegrass, new acoustic, and Americana music. His style blends traditional bluegrass techniques with influences from jazz, classical, and world music, frequently incorporating innovative playing methods and effects on the resonator guitar – often referred to as a Dobro. He has collaborated extensively with artists across multiple genres including Alison Krauss & Union Station, Ricky Skaggs, and Phish.

The Carolina Theatre originally opened in 1926 as a movie palace and vaudeville house. Designed in the atmospheric style popular at the time, it featured an opulent interior intended to evoke a Spanish courtyard. After periods of decline and closure during the latter half of the 20th century, the theatre underwent extensive renovations completed in 2008. It now functions as a performing arts center hosting a diverse range of events including concerts, films, theatrical productions and community gatherings. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a significant landmark within downtown Durham. Its capacity is approximately 1,088 seats.
